March classes now registering!

The Kinetic Canine has a host of classes starting in March!

Puppy Class — every Monday night; 7pm
For puppies between 8 and 16 weeks who have received at least one set of vaccinations.  Begin basic obedience training, learn how to prevent common puppy problems, and expose your puppy to a variety of new sights and sounds!  This class is ongoing, so there is no wait!  Check out the Puppy Class page for more information.

Basic Obedience – begins Thursday, March 11th; 7pm
This six week class is for dogs older than 16 weeks who have had no obedience training or who respond unreliably to basic obedience commands (perfect for out-of-control adolescents).  We cover all the basics: sit, down, stand, stay, coming when called, walking nicely on a leash, and leave it.  We also practice polite greetings, talk about eliminating unwanted behavior and address many common dog behavior issues (barking, jumping up, chewing, digging, etc).  Space is limited, so register now!  For more information, go to our Basic Obedience page.

Advanced Obedience – begins , Monday, March 29th; 8pm
The Advanced Obedience class is for dogs 4 months and older who have had a basic obedience class or puppy class but whose owners would like to sharpen their skills, prepare for the Canine Good Citizenship test or go on to dog sports or therapy work.

This class is suitable for dogs who know the basics (sit, down, stand, coming when called, and stay) but need to practice them around other dogs or in the presence of distractions.  You must have completed a basic obedience class prior to beginning this class.  Dogs must also be up-to-date on all vaccinations (proof of vaccination is required at the first class) and friendly towards other dogs and people.  For more information, go to our Advanced Obedience page.

Tracking for Fun! – begins Saturday, March 27th; 10am
This six week class introduces both dog and handler to the exciting sport of tracking!  In this class, you will learn to lay and follow a track in variable weather conditions, indicate articles and keep a tracking log.  No experience necessary, and pet owners looking for a job for their busy dogs are highly encouraged!  For more information, go to our Tracking page.

Monday, February 8th classes are cancelled

Hi folks,

The rain has finally let up, but the parking area and training fields are soaked (there is a small lake in the parking lot).  Winds have picked up and are forecasted to get up to 20mph, so classes are cancelled.

Looking at the weather forecast for next week, we should be much drier, so puppy class and AKC Novice Obedience, hopefully I will see you then!
