Tracking for Fun! Fall 2010

By Elizabeth • August 11th, 2010

Tracking for Fun! — 6 weeks, begins Saturday, October 3rd at 10am.

Tracking for Fun is for any dog nine months or older who is up to date on vaccinations; tracking is a sport suitable for all shapes and sizes of dogs; non-traditional tracking breeds are welcome! The class will introduce dog and handler to the sport of tracking: laying & following a track in variable weather conditions, article indication, and record keeping — you do not need to know anything about tracking in order to take the class. After the first week, classes will have a rolling start, with only two students starting each half hour — this allows the instructor to focus on you and your dog and one other team for a whole half hour out of the hour and half!

This class is taught by Cathy Cobb.  Cathy is the owner, manager, and lead trainer for Austin Dog Sports. Cathy has been a board member and the Training Advisor for Texas German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue since 2005. After teaching group and private basic obedience and CGC classes, she found her first love in the Rally ring. She currently competes with 2 of her adopted GSPs in AKC Rally and Obedience, tracks for pleasure and trains in freestyle.  She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and is an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.
